Tacinga inamoena was originally classified as an
Opuntia, but is presently assigned to the genus
This dwarf opuntiad soon forms
dense clusters and produces a profusion of attractive
bright reddish orange flowers followed by large
globular fruit, even in cultivation.
I have found this species to be
quite adaptable to a variety of soil mixes and
maintenance regimes. It has tolerated low
temperatures down to freezing outdoors for me -- but
that is here in Tucson where cold nights are usually
followed by warm, sunny days that rejuvenate cold
