As noted in the North Bros. Catalogs, the No. 2101 Ratchet Bit Brace has the same configuration as the 2100 although the exterior finish is of slightly lower quality. Bell Telephone purchased large quantities of the No. 2101 model (which they stamped "Bell System") for use by their Telephone Linemen -- a fine testament to the reliability and overall excellence of North Bros. braces.

The chuck design was a product of the fertile brain of Thomas J. Fegley who assigned the resultant US Patent: 1,617,998 (accompanied by a sectional drawing) granted: Feb. 15, 1927, to North Brothers Manufacturing Co.

No. 2100A/2101A Ratchet Braces

It seems that the 2101A stamping is predominently found on "Bell System" braces. There is no stamping on the top of the handle pad which seems to be of different material than that of the 2100/2101 models.

Stanley Tools acquired North Bros. Mfg. Co. in 1946 and all "YANKEE" tools were subsequently stamped with the Stanley name.
